Social Media for the Modern Day Scientist

On March 30thThe Hospital for Sick Children and KT Australia bring you:

Social Media for the Modern Day Scientist

Evidence shows that #socialmedia supports knowledge translation. Did you know that highly Tweeted peer-review publications are cited up to 20 times more than others? Social media also provides a platform to broaden your audience, connect with decision makers, and engage stakeholders/research users. You control your messaging and you can easily see who is accessing your work and how it is being used. The use of social media can also positively impact academic promotion.

This workshop will cover:

  1. The importance of a good social media profile and how to perfect it.
  2. Social media etiquette and tips for building your social media following.
  3. How to use social media as a KT tool.
  4. The value of and the ways to use social media to build your professional profile.

Please note: Parts of the workshop will be interactive with an opportunity to fine-tune your Twitter and LinkedIn profiles. You are encouraged to bring your laptop or tablet along to join in the activities.
