Online Learning Modules
The National Collaborating Centre for Methods and Tools (NCCMT) has created self-paced online learning modules:
- Introduction to Evidence-Informed Decision Making
The module provides in-depth training on how to implement EIPH using a realistic scenario as a model. Participants interested in professional development, and who take the pre- and post-module assessments, will earn a certificate of completion. The learning module provides a practical introduction for EIPH novices as well as a great refresher for past EIPH workshop participants who want to brush up on their skills or share the information with colleagues. - Critical Appraisal of Intervention Studies
Public health decision makers consider evidence from a variety of sources. How do you know if you can trust the evidence you find and whether you can apply it to your own situation? Get the skills you need to decide! If you are responsible for the planning and delivery of public health programs and services, the Critical Appraisal of Intervention Studies (CAIS) module was designed for you. Learn to assess the quality of research evidence from primary studies about the effectiveness of an intervention and to determine if those findings are reliable, relevant and applicable to your situation. The CAIS self-paced learning module is intended for those who have already completed the NCCMT’s first module ‘Introduction to Evidence-Informed Decision Making’ or who have attended one of our interactive workshops. This more advanced module supports the Appraise step of the process of evidence-informed public health. The critical appraisal skills taught in this module may be new to you or a refresher. Don’t worry – throughout this module you will find links to resources and recommended supports that can help you along the way.
