Job Opportunity: Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse, Director of Knowledge Exchange

For twenty years, the Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse (CCSA) has been providing national leadership in the mobilization of collaborative efforts to reduce alcohol and drug related harms. When CCSA first opened its doors, it was with a profound sense of optimism and hope that their work would contribute to an important body of knowledge in a subject area of particular importance. Two decades later, these hopes have been realized, and CCSA now finds itself playing a key role in the fight against substance abuse in Canada, and abroad. It is within this exciting context and period of dynamic growth that CCSA is seeking to recruit its first Director of Knowledge Exchange to build and lead the organization’s Knowledge Exchange division.

The Director of Knowledge Exchange will lead a team working to identify, adapt, implement and evaluate the most effective strategies, approaches and initiatives for the efficient translation and exchange of knowledge between CCSA and a variety of stakeholders. The Knowledge Exchange division, in close cooperation with the Partnerships and Priorities division, will encourage, enhance and facilitate knowledge exchange by being adaptable and sensitive to stakeholders’ unique contexts and individual needs. The Director will be motivated by the fact that his/her contribution will ensure that Canada remains at the national and international forefront of substance abuse research to inform policy.

As the ideal candidate you have a postgraduate degree in a professional discipline, exceptional stakeholder engagement and change-management skills, a significant background in knowledge exchange, and a passion for building consensus. You are known by your peers as a strategic thinker, an innovative problem solver and an astute manager of relationships. You have a talent for synthesizing complex data, and for building and developing cohesive teams. Experience in the field of alcohol and substance abuse is an asset.

Application deadline: June 9, 2008.
