Position Description:
CAMH’s Provincial System Support Program (PSSP) works with communities, service providers and other partners across Ontario to move evidence to action to create sustainable, equitable, system-level change. With offices in Toronto and across the province, PSSP is on the ground collaborating with partners to build a better system through our work in implementation, knowledge mobilization, evaluation, information management, health equity and lived-experience engagement.
Reporting to the Manager, Knowledge Mobilization, the bilingual Knowledge mobilization community liaison located in Ottawa will serve as the primary point of contact for key partners in the eastern Ontario region (internal and external) within the Kmb team in PSSP. The Kmb community liaison will focus on identifying and developing new partnerships with a specific focus Francophone communities; and strengthening existing ones to connect and support a more evidence-informed Ontario mental health, substance use and addictions system. This includes working with key partners to understand their knowledge gaps and needs; and coordinating and aligning partnerships across different stakeholder groups, communities of interest/practice, project specific advisory committees, ministry and government representatives, Ontario Health Teams, academic and research institutions, community agencies across Ontario, allied sectors, etc. The liaison will also support the French Language Service (FLS) Network, an online community of French speaking Health Care Professionals including monitor activities, encourage participation, and facilitate collaboration and knowledge exchange. Responsibilities may include preparing and sending a bi-weekly newsletter, developing meeting materials, hosting quarterly Champions Circle meeting and coordinating related activities. The liaison will employ their expertise in:
- Expanding networks by developing new and diverse partnerships across Ontario; strengthening existing partnerships; and connecting key partners, including project leads, subject matter experts, persons with lived/living experience, clinicians, researchers, policy-makers, system planners and other stakeholders
- Engaging diverse audiences, knowledge forms and interest groups, including the development of communities through various efforts
- Leading equity-centred engagement and leveraging diverse forms of expertise
- Sustaining collaborative, diverse and multi-professional networks
- Providing critical support for evidence-informed decision-making
- Driving awareness on best-available evidence for high-quality care
- Building French capacity for delivering high-quality care and driving sustainable system-level transformation
- Developing, maintaining and increasing accessibility of high-quality knowledge resources in French
- Supporting evaluation, quality improvement, and integration and digital revitalization of PSSP’s online platforms with a focus on improving accessibility with Francophones
- Providing guidance on strategies, tools, and trainings for the development, application and integration of French Language components in work plans across KMb
- Providing coaching and training, and consistently reviewing and sharing emerging research and evidence.
The application of innovative, timely and responsive methods to identify and communicate evidence-informed practices/proven strategies is an essential element of this role. Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess a Master’s degree in a relevant field with 5 years related experience. Bilingualism (French/ English) in speaking, writing and reading is required. Previous experience working within a research, hospital, or a government environment, and experience working with Ontario health, allied systems, and marginalized populations in the mental health and addictions system would be an asset. Expertise in the science, methodology and practice of knowledge mobilization is required, along with vast experience with a range of knowledge mobilization strategies and methods, (e.g. online repositories, communities of interest/practice, newsletters, workshops, online collaborative spaces). Demonstrated networking, leadership, relationship building and engagement, interpersonal and listening skills are required to work effectively with a broad range of stakeholders and to facilitate the development of partnerships. You will have an understanding of the social determinants of health and the principles of health equity and how they apply in the context of evidence and knowledge mobilization Your experience will also include developing new and strengthening existing partnerships; scanning for and leading grant applications; synthesis of different types of evidence, including the development of systematic/rapid/literature/jurisdictional reviews, other forms of knowledge synthesis, data visualization; and developing and leading interactive dialogues/events, virtual interactions and web-based activities, including facilitation of groups and building consensus. You ideally possess specific training and experience in engagement, needs assessments, research, evaluation, quality improvement, and assurance of practices and procedures. Advanced skills in problem solving are required. You will also possess strong oral and written communication skills, including peer-reviewed, reports, reviews, summaries, and plain language writing; facilitation and presentation skills; and the ability to manage a diverse task load. Proficiency in web-based tools, evidence databases, project management software, Adobe and Microsoft Office software, including spreadsheet and presentation applications is essential. You are able to work independently, with strong initiative, and possess the ability for self-directed learning, with the ability mentor peers and collaborate effectively with team members.
